Prayers for the week of March 30, 2014
O Holy Father, You have sent Your Son to be the Light of the world and the salvation of Your people, leading us on paths we have not known, to heavenly places which He has prepared for us. Through Your Word, guide us and guard us and make straight the path before us that we may not stray from Your presence but gratefully inherit all that is ours through Your Son; Lord, in Your mercy; Hear our prayer.
Into Your hands, dear Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in Your mercy, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

“Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and having found him he said, ‘Do you believe in the Son of Man?’” John 9:35

A Prayer based on the Petitions of the Lord’s Prayer: “Our Father, who art in heaven”
In the Name of the Father and of (+) the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O Lord, Almighty God, You graciously gave Your only-begotten Son over to death that we sinners might believe that You are ‘Our Father’ and we are your children, so that with all boldness and confidence each Christian may ask of you as dear children ask of their dear father. To that end, lend Your fatherly ear to my petitions:
· For the ill, suffering, injured: As a father is ever faithful at the bedside of his ailing children, so also be ‘Our Father’ in caring for those who are ill, injured, or hospitalized such as Richard June*, Lou Ellen Hansen*, Phil Sloane*, Debbie Kufeld*, and Susan Ail- all who are sick and suffering from diseases or disorders.
· For the anxious, lonely: As a father brings courage to his trembling children, so also be ‘Our Father’ in giving strength to those who prepare for surgery or await test results and those who are otherwise anxious or lonely Joe Hibbs, Beth W, and Anne R as well as their families.
· For the mourning: As a father comforts his children, so also be ‘Our Father’ in wiping every tear from the eye of those who mourn the death of loved ones Malcolm, Laurie, Joan, and Val. Comfort them with the certainty of the resurrection and the promised inheritance of all who are children of the Heavenly Father.
· For the rejoicing: As a father takes pleasure in providing joys and blessings for his children, so also be ‘Our Father’ in hearing our thankful praises for the blessings you have bestowed on your children. With those whom you have called in Holy Baptism to be Your child (including NAME), with those who celebrate anniversaries and birthdays (including NAME), with those who thank you for new and restored health, and with those who celebrate any of life’s blessings, we thank and praise you as ‘Our Father.’
Shut ins Irma Martin* Velda Miller* Florence Mitchell*, JoAnne Maras. Myrtle Stade, Bruce Morecraft,
Bless Irma Martin* - who celebrates another year of earthly life
Bless all Widows and Widowers of Calvary.

Prayers...
Prayers for the week of March 23, 2014
Lord of life and the living, satisfy the thirst of our souls with the fountain of refreshment that springs from Jesus Christ, Who Himself has accomplished our salvation. May we ever drink of Him in simple trust, and -refreshed by Him- gladly confess His spring of living waters to our neighbors who are in their own particular need. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer. Heavenly Father, You have promised to hear what we ask in the Name of Your Son:: Accept and fulfill our petitions, we pray, not as we ask in our ignorance, nor as we deserve in our sinfulness, but as You know and will what is best, in love toward us on account of Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, AMEN.
----------
“Jesus said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty forever. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’” John 4:13-14
----------
A Prayer based on the Petitions of the Lord’s Prayer:
“For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. AMEN.”
In the Name of the Father and of (+) the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O Lord, You give us every reason to say, “Amen. Amen. It shall be so!” To you belongs all power and glory, forever and ever. Therefore, hear the praise that is given through an appeal to your mercy, and lend your fatherly ear to my petitions:
· For the ill, suffering, injured: O Lord, You show your power and glory through mercy toward sinners. Hear my prayer for those who are ill, suffering, or injured, especially Richard June*, Phil Sloane*, Jeff Engvall*, Debbie Kufeld*, and Susan Ail- who suffer from affliction; remind them of Your compassion and, according to Your will, heal them of all affliction. In all circumstances, strengthen their faith, that they might clearly confess, “AMEN.”
· For the anxious, lonely: O God, Yours is the kingdom. Yours is the power. Yours is the glory. Yet, we sinners so often grow anxious about the temporal trials that face us. Hear my prayer on behalf of Joe Hibbs and his family, Beth W and her family, and Anne R and her family; remind them that there is none other besides You who deserves all glory, and thus none other that need weaken our “AMEN.” Bring them confidence in the hour of trial, that they may take heart in Your promises, “Yes, yes. It shall be so!”
· For the mourning: O Lord, because You have all power and glory and dominion over life and death, we may rejoice in the Christian’s death, even as we mourn our earthly loss. Hear my prayer on behalf of (Malcolm, Laurie, Joan, and Val who all mourn the death of a loved one. Comfort them with the promise that Jesus Christ is the Resurrection and the Life – “whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live.” Cheer them with such life-giving words, that they might not weep as they who have no hope, but confidently confess, “I believe in the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. AMEN – It shall be so!”
· For the rejoicing: O Lord, as a God of glory, You are also a God who delights in showering us with blessings. Hear my prayer of thanksgiving on behalf of Ron and Ramona Johnson who are rejoicing at the occasion of their sixtieth wedding anniversary. Grant them a thankful heart, ever fixed on your grace through Christ Crucified, and therefore joins the eternal refrain – “AMEN. AMEN. AMEN.”
Bless Jennifer, a relative of the Dorwaldt* family and all expectant mothers- safeguard them until the time of their delivery.
Bless our Calvary shut-ins Geraldine Hagemann*, Margaret Joseph*, Velma Maas*, JoAnne Maras, Myrtle Stade, and Bruce Morecraft and also bless Widows and Widowers of Calvary.
Hear my petitions, O Heavenly Father, for the sake of Your Son, whose sacrificial death gives us the freedom to say, “AMEN – God’s promises shall be so!”, so that we may with all boldness pray, “Our Father, who art in heaven…”

Lord Jesus Christ, Lamb of God who has taken away the sins of all the world, so govern and guide Your Church throughout the world that Your Word is rightly preached and Your Sacraments are rightly administered, for without these Means of Grace that connect us to You and sustain us in the faith, we would surely perish. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer. Into Your hands, O Father, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in Your mercy, through Your Son Jesus Christ, our Lord…. AMEN.

Prayers (V2.0).
Prayers for the week of March 9, 2014
O Lord, our heavenly Father, we pray for grateful hearts that believe Your Holy Word and embrace the salvation accomplished for us by Christ - the Lamb of God - and we ask that You would - through Your Holy Spirit - condition our hearts to be repentant and train our mind's eye with focused intent on the saving passion of Jesus Christ. Lord, in Your mercy; hear our prayer. Into Your hands, holy and heavenly Father, do we commend ourselves and those for whom we pray, trusting in Your mercy for the sake of Jesus Christ, Your Only Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

A Prayer based on the Petitions of the Lord's Prayer: "And lead us not into temptation,"
In the Name of the Father and of (+) the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O Lord, You tempt no one; but we pray that you would be our advocate in times of temptation and tribulation. To that end, lend your fatherly ear to my petitions:
* For the ill, suffering, injured: O Lord, in your earthly ministry,
you were the advocate of the blind, the lame, and all who came to you in
their affliction. Hear my prayer for those who are ill, suffering, or injured, especially Richard June, Donna Dopke, Phil Sloane, Jeff Engvall, Karen Suarez, and Susan Ail- contending with afflictions; keep them from the temptation to despair and reassure them of your constant mercy and your healing hand.
* For the anxious, lonely: O God, You are the advocate of those whose anxieties need to be quieted by Your divine peace. Hear my prayer on behalf of Beth W, Joe H, Rox, Kerry, Vickie, Anne, and Dan keep them from the temptation to doubt Your will and place their hopes in self-made gods. Calm them in the hour of trial and temptation, and encourage them through the promises of Your Word.
* For the mourning: O Lord, You promise to be our advocate, even in the face of death. Hear my prayer on behalf of Ann Yucius - grieving the death of her uncle, Malcolm - widower, Val - grieving the loss of her father Ron Anderson, Joan Rud - widow, and Laurie Boulton - widow. Keep them from the temptation to question Your victory over death. Comfort Them in this time of sorrow, that they might rise from the temptation to believe death has won to rejoice in the promise that - just as Christ has been raised from the dead by Your glory, we too will walk in the newness of life.
* Please bless our shut-ins Fern Weddle, Ron Anderson, Annette Andresen, JoAnne Maras, Myrtle Stade, and Bruce Morecraft.
* For the rejoicing: O Lord, we need not be tempted by the world's
allure, because You promise to bless us in all things. Hear my prayer of
thanksgiving on behalf of those who today rejoice for their own occasion. Grant them thankful heart that is defended from temptation to attribute their joy to themselves or the world, and that rejoices in Your fatherly goodness.
Hear my petitions, O Heavenly Father, for the sake of Your Son, in Whom we have an everlasting Advocate against all temptation, and through whom we pray, "Our Father, who art in heaven..."

Prayers for the week of March 1, 2014
Psalms 62..68
O God, Father of all mercy, we thank You unceasingly that You have brought us to the treasure of Your Word through the superabundant riches of Your grace. In that Word we receive the knowledge of Your dear son, that is, a sure deposit for our life and salvation. You have all those who constantly hold fast in pure faith and in fervent love until the end. We thus hope and pray, merciful Father, You would preserve us and bring us to completion with all of the elect, being of one mind, and make us to be a like image of Your dear Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
These things and whatever else You know that we need, kind Father, grant us for the sake of Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
-----------------------
"He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him." When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, 'Rise, and have no fear.'" Matthew 5:44
----------------------
A Prayer based on the Petitions of the Lord's Prayer:
"And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us."
In the Name of the Father and of (+) the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O Lord, "If you would mark iniquities, O Lord, who would stand? But with You there is forgiveness, that You may be feared." As a Father who deeply loves His children, You promise to freely forgive us as we repent of our sins. To that end, lend your fatherly ear to my petitions:
* For the ill, suffering, injured: O Lord, without You, man has no hope for the sick to be healed or the sinner to be forgiven; yet You have shown Your power and will to do both. Hear my prayer for those who are ill, suffering, or injured, especially Richard June* and Donna Dopke* - facing difficult recoveries after successful surgery Phil Sloane*, Debbie Newbrough*, Ron Anderson*, Irma Madden - struggling with various afflictions, and Karen Suarez, daughter of Frank* and Joyce* Lorence - hospitalized, in very serious condition; comfort them with the certainty that - because their sins have been forgiven on account of Christ Crucified - they may be certain that you will provide for their temporal health and their eternal well-being, in accord with Your will.
* For the anxious, lonely: O God, You promise to answer those who call upon You in their day of trouble. Hear my prayer on behalf of Roxanne, Kerry, Joe, Beth, Anne, Dan, Vickie, and Alexandra; forgive them where - in trial and tribulation - they grow weary and doubt your Word. Strengthen them through Your Word of Truth and its promises, reminding them that - because they are forgiven in Christ - nothing can separate them from Your love.
* For the mourning: O Lord, You take no delight in the death of even the wicked, but desire all men to be saved, and have given Your only-begotten Son to bear the sins of all the world. Hear my prayer on behalf of Val Anderson*, with friends Tom and Linda, who mourn the death of family members, who mourn(s) the death of a loved one. Comfort them with the promise that we have been forgiven in Christ, so that all who die in Christ still live with Him in paradise. Comfort Dan Hoppman, Joan, and Laurie Boulton in their time of sorrow, that they would not grieve as those who have no hope, but as those to whom belongs the certain hope of "the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting."
*Please bless Laurie Boulton & Joan Lud, widows and Clayton Holcomb, widower.
* For the rejoicing: O Lord, because You have paid the redemption price in Christ, and have forgiven all our trespasses, You also delight in giving us every blessing under heaven. Hear my prayer of thanksgiving at the rejoicing of the family of Zoe Hegge on the occasion on Zoe's baptism. Grant them a thankful heart that rejoices in the many blessings that flow to them) as ones forgiven through the blood of the Lamb.
* Bless Michael* and Katy* Hopkins, friends, the Wolff family, who lost their home in a fire.
* Please bless shut-in's: Velda Miller* , Florence Mitchell*, Betty Wear*, JoAnne Maras. Myrtle Stade, and Bruce Morecraft.
Hear my petitions, O Heavenly Father, for the sake of Your Son, in Whom we have the forgiveness of sins and, thus, the right to come to you as dear children who have been taught to pray, "Our Father, who art in heaven..."

Prayers for the week of March 1, 2014
Amen.

"He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him." When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified. But Jesus cam and touched them, saying, 'Rise, and have no fear.'" Matthew 5:44

* For the ill, suffering, injured: O Lord, without You, man has no
hope for the sick to be healed or the sinner to be forgiven; yet You have shown Your power and will to do both.
