Prayers...

Prayers for the week of January 25, 2015

Gracious Father, we praise You that You sent Your Son into our flesh to preach the Gospel of
His saving work for all mankind.  Through Your Word and Sacraments, pour out Your Holy
Spirit upon us that we, with all Your Church, may faithfully confess Your saving name wherever
You place us.  Lord, in Your mercy,  hear our prayer.

Graciously hear our prayers, O Father.  Deliver and preserve us for the sake of Your Son, Jesus
Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.

A Prayer based on the Petitions of the Lord’s Prayer ... “And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.”

In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O Lord, “If you would mark iniquities, O Lord, who would stand? But with You there is forgiveness, that You may be feared.” As a Father who deeply loves His children, You promise to freely forgive us as we repent of our sins. To that end, lend your fatherly ear to my petitions:

* For the ill, suffering, injured: O Lord, without You, man has no hope for the sick to be healed or the sinner to be forgiven;  yet You have shown Your power and will to do both. Hear my prayer for those who are ill, suffering, or injured, especially Norm Bunge*, Connie Block*, Debbie Taylor, Sue Ail, LaVerne Andersen*, Mark Babler (friend of the Hopkins family with stage 4 lung cancer); comfort them with the certainty that – because their sins have been forgiven on account of Christ Crucified – they may be certain that you will provide for their temporal health and their eternal well-being, in accord with Your will.

* For the anxious, lonely: O God, You promise to answer those who call upon You in their day of trouble. Hear my prayer on behalf of my nephew Joe, my son Mark, and my niece Roxanne, forgive them where – in trial and tribulation – they grow weary and doubt your Word. Strengthen them through Your Word of Truth and its promises, reminding them that – because they are forgiven in Christ – nothing can separate them from Your love.

* For the mourning: O Lord, You take no delight in the death of even the wicked, but desire all men to be saved, and have given Your only-begotten Son to bear the sins of all the world. Hear my prayer on behalf of The Gramsey family and any others who mourn the death of Richard, their husband and father.  Comfort them with the promise that we have been forgiven in Christ, so that all who die in Christ still live with Him in paradise. Comfort them in this time of sorrow, that they would not grieve as those who have no hope, but as those to whom belongs the certain hope of “the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.”

* For the rejoicing: O Lord, because You have paid the redemption price in Christ, and have forgiven all our trespasses, You also delight in giving us every blessing under heaven. Hear my prayer of thanksgiving on behalf of all those who rejoice. Grant thankful hearts to all that rejoice in the many blessings that flow to them as ones forgiven through the blood of the Lamb.

* Please bless Calvary shut-ins Velma Mass, Irma Martin, Velda Miller, Bruce Morecraft,  Alice Breneman and also bless all Widows and Widowers of Calvary

Please bless Cindy Mahan's neighbor (as appropriate in her hour of medical need) and also bless her family.

Hear my petitions, O Heavenly Father, for the sake of Your Son, in Whom we have the forgiveness of sins and, thus, the right to come to you as dear children who have been taught to pray, “Our Father, who art in heaven…

Prayers...

Prayers for the week of  January 11, 2014

Heavenly Father, in the Baptism of Your only-begotten Son, Jesus, You made known the Christ—the Anointed One—to humanity and publicly marked Him as the One Who would bear the sins of all people.  We ask You to receive our thanks for the redemption You have achieved for us through Him. Lord, in Your mercy:  Hear our prayer.

Into Your hands we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in Your mercy, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

A Prayer based on the Petitions of the Lord’s Prayer

“Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O Lord, Your will is done even without our prayers, as Your Holy Spirit breaks and hinders all the efforts and plans of the Evil Foe. But, as we depend upon Your grace and desire Your will to be done among us also,  so we are to pray, as You have taught us. To that end, lend your fatherly ear to my petitions:

* For the ill, suffering, injured: O Lord, Your will is done in every hour of life. Hear my prayer for those who are ill, suffering, or injured, especially   Norm Bunge*, Connie Block*, Wally Bartels*, Debbie Taylor, Sue Ail and the Knoepfel* family: who are ill or contending with infirmity that they may dwell secure in awaiting your temporal deliverance or – if it be Your will – be given strength to bear their current affliction. Strengthen Norm, Connie, Wally, Debbie, and the Kboefels. and  and keep them steadfast in Your Word until Your final deliverance, according to Your good and gracious will.
* For the anxious, lonely: O God, just as in heaven, so also on earth, Your will is perfect… and it is always accomplished for our benefit.  Hear my prayer on behalf of all unbelievers in my family that they would be granted a patience that knows that it is Your will to hear our prayer in the day of trouble and deliver us, so that all things work together for the good of those who love You, those whom You have called according to Your purpose.
* For the mourning: O Lord, our ways are not always Your ways; Your will is beyond our understanding and will. Hear my prayer on behalf of all who mourn the death of a loved ones. Comfort them with the promise that Your will is always good, that You have no desire to see the death of the wicked, and that – in accord with Your will – you bring home those whom You have called to be Your own. Grant the faith which clings to the Truth that You willed to freely give up Your own Son in death, that death may not have victory over us.
* For the rejoicing: O Lord, Your good and gracious will gives us much reason to rejoice, as it breaks and hinders the plans of the devil and showers us with temporal and eternal blessings. Hear my prayer of thanksgiving on behalf of all who have occasion to rejoice and give them thankful hearts that – in all things – gives praise to You for Your holy will and desires to be kept steadfast in the True Faith, as You will for all Your children.
• Please bless Calvary shut-ins shutins Myrtle Stade, Fern Waddle, Dorothy Bratton*, Bruce Morecraft
And Alice Breneman and bless all Widows and Widowers of Calvary

Hear my petitions, O Heavenly Father, for the sake of Your Son, who – by carrying out Your will upon the cross – has shown us the goodness of Your heart and, thus, has taught us to pray, “Our Father, who art in heaven…”

Prayers...

Prayers for the week of  January 4, 2014

Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, even at a young age Your Son desired to be in Your House doing the work that You would have Him do, preparing for and preparing others for the holy work He alone could do for our salvation.  Grant that all of Your people with faith-filled hearts would yearn to be in Your house hearing of Your Son’s work for us and –moved by it—leaving Your House to share it with others. Lord, in Your mercy:  Hear our prayer.

We pray for the whole Church of God in Christ Jesus and for all people according to their needs ...

Into Your hands we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in Your mercy, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

A Prayer based on the Petitions of the Lord’s Prayer

“Thy Kingdom Come”

In the Name of the Father and of (+) the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O Lord, Whose Kingdom comes freely and abundantly, we sinners pray that Your Kingdom may come among us also, even today, as Your Holy Spirit works through Word and Sacrament to bring us Your Kingdom of grace and mercy, so that we would believe Your Word and lead a godly life according to it. To that end, lend your fatherly ear to my petitions:

* For the ill, suffering, injured: O Lord, as Your Son came preaching, “the kingdom of heaven is at hand,” so also as part of that message He came healing the sick and raising the dead. Bring comfort to those who contend with illness, to those who suffer, to the injured and the hurting, especially Norm Bunge*, Connie Block*, Wally Bartels*, Debbie Taylor, Sue Ail, Donna (friend of Diane Mautone*), the Knoepfel* family: who are ill, contending with infirmity that they may know that Your Kingdom of temporal care and eternal salvation is even now  among us through the work of your Holy Spirit and your blessed Word and Sacrament.
* For the anxious, lonely: O God, through the work of Your Holy Spirit, who brings to our remembrance all the promises of Christ, we know that the blessings of Your Kingdom – given freely in Your Divine Service to us – is a present comfort, a daily calm in the face of all our cares.  Hear my prayer on behalf of all unbelieving members of my family that they would be granted Your peace, which needs not worry about tomorrow, for Thy Kingdom of grace and mercy is among us this day. Grant us all peace for today and tomorrow’s certain hope that Your Holy Spirit will continue to work among us and strengthen and sustain us through Your Word and Sacrament.
* For the mourning: O Lord, Thy Kingdom comes among us each and every day; especially at life’s end, are we thankful  that You have sustained Your saints through Your Spirit’s working in Word and Sacraments, that the faithful might know a blessed end. Hear my prayer on behalf of any who mourn the death of a loved ones. Comfort them with Your mercy; point them to the future glory that knows in full the joys of the Kingdom that has no end. Grant them the courage to know that – as they continue(s) on here below, here too Your Holy Spirit will continue to sustain them in Word and Sacrament.
* For the rejoicing: O Lord, with what rejoicing do we welcome and celebrate the coming gifts of Your Kingdom, Your grace and mercy therein, and the many temporal blessings that flow to us because – even today – Your Kingdom comes among us. Hear my prayer of thanksgiving on behalf of Abigail Bestul and her family as they rejoice at the occasion of of Abigail's baptism.  Grant them a thankful heart that confesses Your goodness and desires to continually receive the means by which Your grace and Spirit come – pouring out  the benefits of the cross upon us… those benefits won and purchased for us by the blood and death of Christ, our Lord.
* Please bless all our shut ins including Velda Miller*, Florence Mitchell*, Betty Wear*, Bruce Morecraft, Janet Keller, Alice Breneman, and Myrtle Stade, as well as all Widows and Widowers of Calvary.

Hear my petitions, O Heavenly Father, for the sake of Your Son, who has promised your kingdom to come and, thus, taught us to pray, “Our Father, who art in heaven…”

Lord Jesus, You promised that You would build Your Church on the good confession that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. You also promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against that Church! Now protect us, we pray, by Your Holy Spirit, so that we can carry out Your Spirit’s work of making disciples of every nation. Lord, in Your mercy:  HEAR OUR PRAYER.

We pray for the whole Church of God in Christ Jesus and for all people according to their needs.  Into Your hands, O Lord, we commend ourselves and all those for whom we have prayed, trusting in Your mercy and grace, for You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. A Prayer based on the Petitions of the Lord’s Prayer

“Hallowed be Thy Name”

In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O Lord, Whose name is certainly holy in itself, we sinners pray that Your name may be kept holy among us also. Your Name is kept holy when your Word is taught in truth and purity and we, as children who call on You as ‘Our Father’ lead holy lives according to it. Help us to do this in all situations of life, O Lord. To that end, lend your fatherly ear to my petitions:

* For the ill, suffering, injured: O Lord, Your Word teaches in truth and purity that You have the power to heal the sick, bring relief to the suffering, mend the injured. Hear my prayer on behalf of those who are terminally ill, otherwise sick, or suffering: Norm Bunge*, Sue Ail, Connie Block*, Debbie Taylor that they would live patiently according to that Word, not despising Your promises, but faithfully waiting Your promised temporal or eternal deliverance.
* Please bless Calvary shut-ins Margaret Joseph* , Velma Maas*, Irma Martin*, Bruce Morecraft, Janet Keller. Alice Breneman, and Myrtle Stade.
* Likewise bless the anxious, lonely: O God, Your Word teaches in truth and purity that we cannot add to the length of our days by worrying, nor need we – for our good is in the hands of You who care even for the birds of the air and the lilies of the field. Hear my prayer on behalf of those that would be granted your peace in anticipating that which lies ahead and thus dwell in Christian confidence according to Your Word.
* For the mourning: O Lord, Your Word teaches in truth and purity that You alone give and You alone take away… that, though the devil meant our death for ill, through the atoning death of Christ Crucified, the Christian’s death is but an entrance into life everlasting. Hear my prayer on behalf of Those who mourn:  Gale Moe and family at the death of Gale’s aunt, Melba Todd, as well as Tony Wyatt (husband of Kim Wyatt*), at the death of Tony’s grandmother, Joyce that they would live in the joy of the Christian, even in the hour of sorrow, not despising Your promises regarding the resurrection, but holding to Your Word, which declares: “Death is swallowed up in victory… thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
* Please bless the Widows and Widowers of Calvary .
* For the rejoicing: O Lord, Your Word teaches in truth and purity that You are the source of every blessing. Hear my prayer of thanksgiving with and on behalf of Pastor’s family at the birth of their daughter, Abigail Marie to be Baptized next Sunday at 10:30.  Grant us thankful hearts, that we may rejoice in your Name at all times and desire to live according to Your Word and walk in your ways to the glory of Your Holy Name.

Hear my petitions, O Heavenly Father, for the sake of Your Son, who has taught us to hallow Your Name by praying, “Our Father, who art in heaven…”
