 LSB 514 "The Bridegroom soon will call us"

http://openhymnal.org/Mp3/The_Bridegroom_Soon_Will_Call_Us-Act_Gott_Vom_Himmelreiche.mp3

The Bridegroom soon will call us “Come to the wedding feast.”

May slumber not befall us Nor watchfulness decrease.

May all our lamps be burning with oil enough and more

that we with Him returning may find an open door.

There shall we see in glory Our dear Redeemer's face;

The long-awaited story Of heav'nly joy takes place;

The patriarchs shall meet us, The prophets' holy band;

Apostles, martyrs greet us In that celestial land.

There God shall from all evil Forever make us free,

From sin and from the devil, From all adversity,

From sickness, pain, and sadness, From troubles, cares, and fears,

And grant us heav'nly gladness  And wipe away our tears.

In that fair home shall never Be silent music's voice;

With hearts and lips forever We shall in God rejoice.

While angel hosts are raising With saints from great to least

A mighty hymn for praising The Giver of the feast.

 Returned to Elgin with Lila last night (it was 50oC - ish) after two weeks in Austin where we had dropped off Mark.  While there we waited out a tropical storm, looked at a lot of houses, visited Padre Island, swam in the apartment pool several times, and played board games with Mark.  I performed Elder duty this am too while Lila stayed home with achy sinuses.

... That is all ...

Stuff

Lila and I are in Austin at Mark's apartment.  We arrived on Thursday, June 17.  On the way down from Elgin.  We camped in Winterset, IA and at Lake El Dorado in KS.

We have eaten at Rudy's BBQ, Chuy's Mexican, Chicken Express, and Blue Bonnet Cafe.

We swam also cooked dogs and brats and then steaks at Mark's pool.

We visited Fredricksburg, a historical German settlement west of Austin, and ate at Der Lindenbaum.

We spent an afternoon at my sister Roxanne's house.

We went to several parks and lakes (dut usually could't get in, however).

The Texas governor has cracked down on social distancing and mask usage which greatly restricted our movement.

Mark damaged his iphone in the pool and ordered a replacement.

CLCE Matins

2020.03.28.A CLCE Matins - YT Clip
O Christ who shared our mortal life, And ended death’s long reign,
Who healed the sick and raised the dead, And bore our grief and pain,
We know our years on earth are few, That death is always near.
Come now to us O Lord of Life, bring hope that conquers fear.

Two weeping sisters, worn by grief And mired in depths of gloom,
Stood watching where their brother lay Within a rock-sealed tomb.
When, Lord, You met them as they mourned, You wept compassion’s tear.
But Martha, sore with sorrow, said, “He’d lived had You been here!”

“I am the Lord of life and death!” You answered Martha’s cry,
“And all who hear and trust My Word Shall live, although they die!”
You walked the path to Laz’rus’ tomb, You called him forth by name,
And living, loving once again, From death to life he came!

Death’s power holds us still in thrall. And bears us toward the tomb.
Death’s dark’ning cloud hangs like a pall, That threatens earth with doom.
But You have broken death’s embrace, And torn away its sting.
Restore to life our mortal race! Raise us O Risen King!
