Prayers for the week of November 9, 2014
Lord God, for the sake of the suffering and death of Jesus Christ, our Lord—into Whom we have been baptized and in Whose blessed Name we pray—hear our supplications. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, we know that You, heavenly Father, will bring with Him those who have died in Christ. In expectation of Jesus’ immanent return, grant us faith and godliness of life, that we will be prepared on that great and awesome day. We pray it through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever, Amen.

A Prayer based on the Petitions of the Lord’s Prayer
“Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O Lord, Your will is done even without our prayers, as Your Holy Spirit breaks and hinders all the efforts and plans of the Evil Foe. But, as we depend upon Your grace and desire Your will to be done among us also, so we are to pray, as You have taught us. To that end, lend your fatherly ear to my petitions:
* For the ill, suffering, injured: O Lord, Your will is done in every hour of life. Hear my prayer for those who are ill, suffering, or injured, especially Dan Johnson who is recovering after surgery for a broken ankle, Nicole who is a cousin of member Kim Wyatt, Susan Ail who is a niece of Kathy Hoppmann, and also Sal Garcia who is undergoing medical tests and all others who suffer. Please bless that they may dwell secure in awaiting your temporal deliverance or – if it be Your will – be given strength to bear their current affliction. Please strengthen Dan Johnson, Nicole, Susan Ail, and Sal and all those who suffer and keep them steadfast in Your Word until Your final deliverance, according to Your good and gracious will.
* For the anxious and lonely: O God, just as in heaven, so also on earth, Your will is perfect… and it is always accomplished for our benefit. Hear my prayer on behalf of my neighbor and my nephew, Joe that they would be granted a patience that knows that it is Your will to hear our prayer in the day of trouble and deliver us, so that all things work together for the good of those who love You, those whom You have called according to Your purpose.
* For the mourning: O Lord, our ways are not always Your ways; Your will is beyond our understanding and will. Hear my prayer on behalf of Val Jones, Dorothy Thompson and the Widows and Widowers of Calvary, who all mourn the death of a loved one. Comfort them with the promise that Your will is always good, that You have no desire to see the death of the wicked, and that – in accord with Your will – you bring home those whom You have called to be Your own. Grant them the faith which clings to the Truth that You willed to freely give up Your own Son in death, that death may not have victory over us.
* For the rejoicing: O Lord, Your good and gracious will gives us much reason to rejoice, as it breaks and hinders the plans of the devil and showers us with temporal and eternal blessings. Hear my prayer of thanksgiving on behalf of Bob and Anna Lindemann on their 40th wedding anniversary,
Erik & Cindy Mahan and their children Ben, Zack, and Sophie as they are welcomed into membership by transfer. Grant them a thankful heart that – in all things – gives praise to You for Your holy will and desires to be kept steadfast in the True Faith, as You will for all Your children.
Please bless our shut-ins especially Irene Fehrman, Geraldine Hagemann, Margaret Joseph, Bruce Morecraft, Janet Keller, and Alice Breneman.
Please watch over all members of Calvary who are traveling.
Hear my petitions, O Heavenly Father, for the sake of Your Son, who – by carrying out Your will upon the cross – has shown us the goodness of Your heart and, thus, has taught us to pray, “Our Father, who art in heaven…”
